Safeguarding for professionals

Safeguarding at Our School

Our Commitment

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to protecting every child from harm and ensuring they feel safe, valued and listened to. All staff, volunteers and visiting professionals follow Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children, and our own school policies.

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

  • Lead DSL: Miss Paula O'Shea

  • Deputy DSLs: Miss Pikulski, Mrs Gowers, Mrs Khan, Mrs Vora, Mrs Gomm, Miss Shafique (our SENDCOs also are trained to DSL level)

  • Safeguarding Governor: Sarah Lee

  • If you cannot find, or identify, a DSL, please speak to the office.

All concerns must be reported to a DSL immediately.

What Safeguarding Means in Our School

Safeguarding includes:

  • Child protection

  • Online safety

  • Safer recruitment

  • Managing allegations

  • Supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing

  • Preventing peer‑on‑peer abuse

  • Early help and multi‑agency working

We promote a culture of vigilance, openness and professional curiosity.

Information for Professionals

Professionals working with our children must:

Recognise & Respond

  • Know the signs of abuse, neglect and exploitation.

  • Act immediately if worried about a child.

  • Contact emergency services if a child is in immediate danger.

Record Accurately

  • Log concerns promptly on our safeguarding system (e.g., CPOMS).

  • Record factually, clearly and without personal opinion.

  • Ensure concerns are passed on before leaving the site.

Maintain Professional Boundaries

  • Keep relationships with pupils safe, respectful and appropriate.

  • Avoid any behaviour that could be misinterpreted.

  • Follow safer‑working practice guidance at all times.

Work Transparently

  • Keep interactions observable and appropriate.

  • Share information only when necessary for safeguarding.

  • Seek advice if unsure — confidentiality must never prevent action.

Online Conduct

  • Use technology responsibly and professionally.

  • Do not communicate with pupils or families via personal accounts.

  • Follow our policies on digital communication and data protection.

Safer Recruitment

  • All staff, volunteers and contractors must have appropriate vetting checks.

  • Visitors must sign in and wear identification at all times.

Training

  • All staff receive regular safeguarding training and updates.

  • DSLs receive enhanced training and ongoing professional development.

Whistleblowing & Low‑Level Concerns

  • Staff must report concerns about adult behaviour — including low‑level concerns.

  • Whistleblowing procedures protect staff who raise concerns in good faith.

  • Allegations against staff follow statutory processes.

Working with Families & Agencies

We work closely with parents, social care, health professionals and other agencies. Information is shared lawfully and proportionately to protect children. Early help is offered where appropriate.

How We Keep Children Safe Online

  • Filtering and monitoring systems

  • Curriculum teaching on digital safety

  • Staff training on online risks

  • Guidance for parents on safe use of technology
